abdominoplasty
Patients with excess of skin from abdomen with adipose tissue or not, are candidates to undergo this type of intervention. The aim of this procedure is to remove the extra skin and fat and tighten the abdominal muscles with some stitches (called plicature stitches) to improve the body contour. Sometimes, this intervention can be combined with a liposuction to narrow the waistline.
Abdominoplasty surgery can be performed under epidural or general anesthesia. This intervention takes two or four hours depending on each case, and the transverse incision is located above the pubis area as low as possible, so the scar will be hidden under a bathing suit.
The patient will go home after staying hospitalized for one day and will do a relative rest from 7 to 14 days using a tubular support -girdle- . Sometimes when the pacients ask me if this surgery is painful I answer that is not but she/he should take care of movements
The results in this type of surgical intervention are very good and amazing in some cases nevertheless to achieve the definitive body contour and the scar aspect may take some time. It can takes to 2 to 6 months depending of the procedure complexity.
